If you are interested in testing a Flash application while you are running Linux, you will want to install a standalone version of Flash Player.
Unfortunately, installing the Flash Player Debugger and associating it with your SWF files can be tough to figure out, so I have written a script that will download, extract and associate the standalone Flash Player for you 🙂
I am using Ubuntu 12.04 with the GNOME window manager. This script should work fine with older versions of Ubuntu, and probably many other distributions of Linux, but if you are using a different window manager (like KDE) you will have to modify the script.
If you prefer, you can download a copy of the script here:
After the script has completed, you will have a new 'Flash Player Debugger' association for SWF files, and the debugger will also be available from the terminal as 'flashplayerdebugger'
You will need to check if another application is already the default handler for SWF files. On my system, Totem was associated as the default application. Cahaya hati opick mp3 downloader. You can change the default application by right-clicking a SWF file and choosing 'Properties' then 'Open With' to choose a new default.
Linux Install Tar Gz File
For instance, installing the Macromedia Flash plugin involves downloading the Flash plugin, (download the source, not the binary) unpacking the file with the command: tar xvzf installflashplayer10linux.tar.gz, change into the newly created directory with the command cd installflashplayer10, issue the command./flashplayer-installer,. Go to this page and select the option.tar.gz for other Linux. Download the file. Unpack the plugin tar.gz and copy the files to the appropriate location. Save the plugin tar.gz locally and note the location the file was saved to. Launch terminal and change directories to the location the file was saved to. Unpack the tar.gz file.
